Spoils

I know I haven't been posting the most flattering pictures of Darien lately but this one captures his impishness perfectly. Connor and I were out for the afternoon and Darien and daddy spent some time together. According to Jeremy, he turned around while getting something out of the fridge and Mr. Darien grabbed a leftover sausage and started to eat it. He looks quite proud of himself, huh? Connor got iron-ons in a loot bag from a birthday party in April of the letters of his name - missing one 'N" I have been promising him that I would go and buy the missing letter and we would make him a shirt. They have been sold out of the rainbow ones for months, so I broke down and bought a whole new pack. We also bought a pack of Crayolas that can be used to create your own iron-on. Here is Connor modelling his new shirt.

Jeremy had a tale (or so Connor and I thought) about this giant frog that lived in our pond. Kind of like the big one that got away fishing tale. He tried to convince me how absolutely huge this frog was but I didn't bite (pun intended). Well, I went shopping and lookey what was in the tank where we keep the tadpoles when I got home:
Look at the FEET! Jeremy moved the tadpoles to a jar so the frog wouldn't turn cannibal on us and upset Connor. There is a wire mesh screen over the tank and I did weigh it down with a book but one of the boys (not Darien) removed the book before bed. Jeremy mentioned that he would let the frog go that night and when the tank was empty the next morning that is what I thought he had done (you know where I am going with this, right?).

Me: "By the way, you did let the frog out last night didn't you?'

Jeremy: "No, I fell asleep. Why?"

Me: "Get out of bed NOW and come find it - the tank is empty!!!"

Even though I was looking for it and knew what I was looking for (at 6 a.m. I should add) it still made me jump (sorry, pun number 2) when I found him. Damn, what am I going to do when those 12 little tadpoles, who have already sprouted legs, turn into behemoths like the one pictured above?
